In 2021, the city of Helsinki applied for a tenant and a developer for a marine sauna place in Hietaniemi.
The site was intended for the construction of a sauna for public use. Cafe and restaurant activities were also planned in connection with the sauna.
The competition also had to present a financial business plan and a financing plan for the project.
Our office participated in the site search competition with a proposal that had 25 client places inside and approximately 100 outside.
The competition proposal included a restaurant building, a sauna building, a swimming pool deck and a floating sea water pool. Our group did not win the reservation competition.
The project was adapted to Hietaniemi's scenically sensitive environment and it supported the operation of the nearby water sports center.
The operation was planned in such a way that general use of the beach remained possible.
